Title: Hirose 4 pin numbering?
Post by: BusDriver on October 13, 2010, 09:35:07 PM
I'm wanting to build a power supply for a MixPre. I have the 4 pin plugs but can't find a pin # identifier either through Hirose or Sound Devices. I can barely read the numbers with magnification but can see they are there, but between pins, not adjacent.

Looking at the MixPre power corner straight on, what is the numbering sequence for the Hirose? I know it's probably "industry standard" but I'm far from industrial.

After i finish making 2 cords, I'll have a few plugs left over from the multipack I bought if anyone should have need.

In advance, thanks

Hope this clears it up for you.

pin #4 = (+) pos

pin # 1 = (-) neg

Looking from the solder side with the notched indent facing up (number 4 is stamped just below the indent which also corresponds with the widest alignment guide).  From this view Pin 4 is on the left and pin 1 is on the right.  From 1 they are numbered clockwise.

If you have spares left over and want to get rid of them I would use them shoot me a PM.

thank you. that is what i thought i was reading, but i obviously need stronger magnification.

with the plug inserted ... top left = pin4, +

                                      top right = pin1, -

Yes that's it.

Or another way to visualize it; the number is stamped to the right of each pin as you move clockwise around it.
