Recommend me a mic for DSLR (under $100) for video
« on: May 10, 2009, 04:41:09 PM »
My buddy just bought a new 5d mark II.  he primarily does photos, but wants to experiment with some video.  he also only wants to spend  around $100.  any suggestions?

Maybe a Sennheiser MKE400 or a Rode Video Mic, both are a bit over $100 though. He might be able to find cheaper stuff on eBay.

How is he going to connect the mics to the camera or is he going to do dual system (record video separate from audio)? Both of the mics I mentioned use 1/8" stereo mini jack.

he's just doing mic -> camera.  he's not getting an audio recorder anytime soon.
