dvd authoring software advice needed (PC)

hey kids...helping a friend back up some dv masters and for some, we'd like to do more than a simple menu setup....i had a cr*cked version of TMPG a few years back, but it didnt do too many fancy things for authoring..

and advice??  not too much in $$ is avail for this, but id like to see what you good people recommend..

I'm fairly happy with the cheap version of Sony Vegas.

I'm fairly happy with the cheap version of Sony Vegas.
I wasn't aware you could author a DVD using Sony Vegas.  I use Vegas' sister program DVD Architect for authoring and I'm very happy with it.  You can get it for $50 from Sony's website.
