ok, what are some recs for new speakers?  conversely, i went and listened to the denon 3805 last night and liked it a bit more than the sony 7100es they had to compare it to...i might end up sending back the sony also.

Infinity (I know, bad perception b/c they are so "mass-market" but I think there is some really solid speaker engineering going into the infinity speaker line, great performance for the cost.

Also, Triangles and silverlines are supposed to be very easy to drive.

Well if you love your speakers, and are willing to spend $450 (or find someone with the know how to make something similar), you can make your amp think its driving an 8 ohm load:
