Title: Schoeps actives question (mk4/ cmc6)

Are there different types of active cables available?  Just curious if there is one that could run directly to your recorder or external pre without the cmc6 amplifier.

As indicated above, Jon at Naint has developed a PFA that connects to a shoeps active cable (either a kc5 that's modified/spliced or a kcy or followingbob's compatible active cables) and uses the recorder's p48 phantom power to run the schoeps caps.  Schoeps also makes a preamp (the vms5u) that accomplishes the same result (you can also use a Nbox or properly configured tinybox).

PFAs are a very compact solution, the electronics is built into the xlr cable.
