selecting bit-depth/sample rate for FW 410
« on: November 14, 2004, 06:19:49 PM »
I have been unable to designate the bit-depth resolution or the sample rate for my fw 410. After searching the forums to no avail, I decided to post:

First, with the drivers that came with the disc.  Then I d/led the latest off the m-audio website and installed.  the drivers are updated, but still no option to select the bit depth or sample rate.  then I uninstalled EVERYTHING m-audio and installed only the latest drivers from the website.  Same thing.  Anybody have this problem? I emailed m-audio too, HUGE +t if you can help.

ps, I've had the 410 for some time, but this is the first time running it alone.  I usually ran it with a ua-5 where the ua-5's bit depth/sample rate settings are used.

It should just lock onto whatever your source clock is at unless you are taking an analog in, then just set your recording software to your desried settings and let it fly.  Just use the settings on the "hardware tab" in the virtual control panel that comes along with the drivers.

really? I'll have to run more tests because I tried test recording using wavelab set to 24/48. it sounded all distorted so I tried 24/44.1 and it sounded fine.

also after searching I found a post where someone had the same problem where they couldn't designate a bit-depth/sample rate and when they installed newest drivers the problem was solved. that's why I grabbed the newest drivers, but I still don't have the option...  piece of crap

this is based on the FW Audiophile, which *should* have the same driver as the FW 410(ie, all of the M-Audio 'Delta' products had the same driver).

you dont set the bit-rate/sample depth in the M-Audio Control Panel.
in the control panel, you select the input/output(if spdif, then select external clock, etc...)

the bit-rate and sample depth are set at the applications record dialog.
