Topic: bogen 3373- small enough for on-stage?

ssia. would i be allright on-stage with a bogen 3373 stand? ive got a small on-stage stand that seems a little bulky for my new setup, and i was gonna unload it if the 3373 will go low enough...

im assuming it will be fine, but thought id ask

though I have never tried it for that it should be.  Looking at it now, you can vary the height by how much you put the lets "out" so you should be able to use it for that

I use it when I run the TL's on stage, those fuckers are heavy, but yes, it is not the best if space on stage is short

The mini will hold LD's up just fine. Use duct tape.

I know it goes up to 4'. I'd say it's lowest point is  ~16" off the ground. The 3373 can almost get that low (with the legs completely flat), but you have to deal with that big-ass footprint. The mini is SUPER compact too. Folds up nicely.

I think mine was ~$50. A kickdrum stand would be cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Personally, I've never been able to run the 3373 onstage for shows -- the bands I've taped onstage (skb and garaj mahal, etc.) have wanted to limit the onstage stands' height to around that of a kick drum stand (mics around 18" off the ground).  A 3373 sets up at around 18" and anything screwed onto the threads on top will increase that height.  Great stand, perfect for stage lip recordings and fob work, but imho too tall/bulky for onstage stuff.

i will only have one schepz a20s shock and a kwon bar with actives on it, think that will be too large? i still have my old on stage stad. i may keep it once i get my 3373 and i can tell what the height difference is

did mine that way too...works great!  smaller fotprint, still sturdy enough for me, great for onstage, and it folds up easier because the legs are shorter and there's not so much extra leg flying around

fold the stand up, you see how the legs overhang the rest of the stand... cut most of that off. when you're running fob then you can run the stand flat on the ground without having a huge footprint, it also keeps you from running so high that you get busted.

I guess it depends on what kind of fob work you're doing, if you can use the height then don't but if you're running in a lowprofile fob situation I prefer the smaller footprint and shorter stand.

im not yet sure exacly what all shows il be running fob. the main concern i had was being able to run fob here at the canopy club... the "section" has always been FOB, but my TL's up there interfered with the video and sightline of all the sound guys.

im sure the more i get into it, i will try to go FOB alot more. maybe il hold off on hacking mine

I buddy of mine here uses this desk stand from Radioshack for onstage work.   It is dirt cheap and does the job and he has C1000's so I am pretty sure it could support pretty much any other set of mics too.

Maybe that is what you already had, but just in case other people are interested in cheap options I wanted to post it.  I am gonna pick one up next time I am at Ratshack I think.   With my vert bar should be perfect height.

ditto on the RatShack device. Little story, I was taping at this gig and there really was no room for me to tape from. Thought I was screwed. But across the street was a mall and I ran to RS to see what they had. I plopped down a few bucks, ran back to the venue and set up this little stand around the soundboard area on top of some equipment. The base is nice and heavy and since it's so small you can usually find a pocket in your gear bag if you remember to bring it 'just in case'

i kep my old on stage stand just in case. looks like il just hang onto it for good
