Sony ECMMS907 needs a Mic stand, can I use anything
« on: December 13, 2010, 02:10:50 AM »
Hey all, long time viewer, first time poster,

I'm doing Oral History now for a MA and I need some ideas about a desk top mic stand. I have a Sony ECMMS907 which works alright if you have a pop filter for doing recordings such as interviews. But what I really need is a good Desk mic stand. I've seen a few online (hard to buy equipment in China) but since I will be going home for a couple weeks shortly, I wanted to order one online and having it waiting for me at the parents house when I get back.

Anything cheap recommendations appreciated.

I see on Amazon they have a On Stage DS7200B Adjustable Desk Microphone Stand. From what I've read though, it might be hard to hook up my mic.

Here's one on eBay that would probably be okay. It seems easy to transport if you're doing interviews.

The mic clip is what you really need to be sure about; then you can use any stand.

Search "Pro-Mic-Clip-Holder-Rubber-Clamp-Basic-Gear-Stage-30" on eBay. It will work for your mic -- and you can buy it in China!

While this one may be a little tall, it is another option for you:

I've got one of these they are really durable and portable, nice price too about $15.  You also need to order a mic clip if your mic didn't come supplied with one.

those are the best - light and fold up small- I got a couple of them  you can also screw on a flex goose neck to  raise the mic if needed I use wither some 6" ers  or 13" ers
like these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/82408-REG/Atlas_Sound_GN_6E.html  &  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/82410-REG/Atlas_Sound_GN_13E.html
they work great as on stage stands for small spaced omnis - as well!
