Need a tall tripod
« on: September 25, 2011, 05:44:02 PM »
I need to get a tall tripod for my video camera.  Something that will go high enough to shoot over everyones heads.  Does anyone in here have any suggestions?

I suggest you search ts for "light stand", lots of posts, some with links. Light stands are what many of us use for mic stands. Add whatever type head you want and you'll be good to go.

+1 to what flipp just said.  We're all using light stands around these parts.  Any small videocamera should easily be manageable on a medium duty stand with the appropriate adapters.

I concur. I do video professionally, and taller tripods will have a MUCH larger footprint, which won't work for obvious reasons. I record audio, but also like to take stills, and I usually use a Gorillapod, wrapped around my mic stand. That might be something to consider, too, as long as you're not panning and tilting.
