Title: high end cd player help

may be looking to change out my main cd player.  i have a Classe'  CDP 3.  great unit but it don't like the home made cd's very much, and i just so happen to lissen to home made ones :P.  is there any thing i might be able to do so it "reads" the burned ones?  i hate to swap this thing out.  it is a great player.  if i would swap it out,  any suggestions?  havent been reading up on things for awhile.  thanks,  ed

My off-topic suggestion:  seize the opportunity to migrate to PC-based media-less playback through the likes of a Squeezebox.

I have the same unit, and love it's DAC, and I think it sounds better than the one in the HHB burners. I also used it for DAT>CDR burns years ago, and found that I liked using the monitor function passing my CD changer's optical out to it, and have never gone back. I assume the current CDRW900SL has the same DAC, and it's still good to have a regular burner in the mix.

I heard a night and day difference between my CDRW700 cold and after it was powered up for 3-4 days.   Cold it sounded unimpressive compared to a CAL sigma II but after a few days of uninterrupted power there was very little difference and I ended up leaving the tascam on all the time and I sold the CAL unit.

I also ended up keeping my burner as my playback. I use a Sony CDR-W33 digi out to a modded Adcom DAC700. It gives my 24bit playback a run. ;)

you could keep the CDP 3, and add something like a Squeezebox for the home made CDs (which would not actually need to be homemade CDs anymore... just digital media on you computer).  even though media is dated, i can appreciate the desire to keep the quality hifi components.

fwiw my favorite CD players are made by Rega and Musical Fidelity (the apollo and the A5 respectively).  Not sure how those handle homemade CDs, but they are a lot more expensive than a squeezebox :D

how about a cheep universal player (OPPO, etc.) with a good DAC?
