Title: Rattle in my AK40 capsule

anyone ever had a slight rattle inside your AK40 capsule? I just noticed it the other day when messing around with my gear.  Does not effect functioning at all, just rattles when i move it around...weird and freakin me out  :javascript:void(0);o

if it were me and I had the $ I'd send it to sennheiser

ps I just shook my caps and no rattle ;)

yeah I am pretty sure the rattle shouldnt be there... ::)

If something inside a capsule head can make a noise like that, it's moving and bumping up against something hard--which means that it's already coming apart in some way and is only likely to damage itself more.

I'd say send it to Sennheiser USA (if you're in the U.S.) for checkout and an estimate. Past a certain point, capsule repairs for Neumann microphones become capsule replacements, which are very expensive. You may have a chance to stop the problem before it reaches that point.

One of my avantone caps had a rattle - it turned out to be the cosmetic grille...which eventually fell off. Wasnt something you'd expect to make such a sound...and it didn't really seem lose.  It finally just fell off, I krazy glued it back on...no rattle :P (not recommended for the AK40!)
