Title: worth doing a dat-jb3 compare?
Post by: dr.ph0b on June 11, 2004, 12:03:30 PM
has anyone done a comparison of a recording from a JB3 and DAT from the same source? could there be any difference if the jb3 is bit-accurate?

There's been many a test, all of which concluded essentially that the JB3 is bit-perfect given that it's source is "compatible".  Some A/D's don't jive well, some do, but when paired with those that do "jive" you'll get a bit-perfect copy.  Check out a few searches for bit perfect JB3 as there were a few tests done previously.

What's the max rate on the JB3? I didn't think it would do 48kHz. But hey WTF do I know. I was just curious, thanks.

Funny how super cool looking dats, measure the same quality sound with clumsy jb3(no offense they do look bulky  ), but digital is the only future, for technology side anyway (unless some problems found with quality of sound). I just hate that someone is lagging implementation of direct file transfers from player to player(for obvious reasons), when this day comes, the war is over my bretheren... Also how about a feature where you can recode files inside the player, for example for djs, storing in mp3, and before set upack into wav?  Total freedom of exchange and manipulation of high res files on the fly. What's beyond that??  ;D  Then finally we can run back to the woods but with music this time. lol
