Title: Another newbie taper question
Post by: Music is alive on April 08, 2005, 09:19:34 PM
I'm going to see a small local indie band soon and anticipate getting a soundboard feed from the sound guy...but my question is (rank newbie here as far as anything non-stealthing goes), what kind of output would the soundboard usually have?  1/4 inch cable?  Something else?

When you (the friendly reader) get a soundboard feed, what form does it take and do you need any cables or converters between the feed and your rig?

Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated!

In my experience, most boards I have run off of required the use of xlr jacks. The second most common has been 1/4" plugs followed by rca outputs but those were generally found on smaller consumer mixing boards. Your best bet is to be prepared with all three so you don't miss the opportunity for the feed.
