Title: Help re: iZotope Ozone 3 Loudness Maximizer
Post by: pool on January 01, 2007, 03:38:33 AM
Hi friends
Happy New Year!

I would like to get some guidance/advice re using iZotope Ozone 3 (via soundforge 8) specifically the Loudness Maximizer section.

I have used Wavgain, which is ok but I would like to maximize on 24/96 before I downsample also using iZotope.

I understood most of the options involved in Lodness Maximizer like Margin (-0.3 to -2.0 suggested) and dithering types involved. I cannot however understand manual adjusting Threshold esp the note on the manual reading "For a subtle but full sounding mix, bring the Threshold down until the "crest" of the level histogram is white. In a mix with reasonably strong level (?), try a Threshold from -1.0 to - 3.0 db for a fuller sound."

Can anyone kindly indicate what guiding levels/readings should I aim at?

Eg. wavgain reads +5.63 (on a 16 bit file) Peak 32767 New Peak 62652. How would this translate on iZotpe?

I'm pretty basic in understanding these things so please lead the horse to water...
thank you in advance
regards
