Need help on Jib Crane placement for outdoor festivals
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:20:41 PM »
I have a 12' Jib and am wondering what is the best placement for recording outdoor concerts. I am thinking slightly right /rear of the soundboard. I know crowd will be an issue. Also, I forgot to mention that Jib will be mounted on a tripod using an HV20.

Thanks in advance
Danny

Hmmm how does the jib mount to the tripod?Which tripod is it?I believe you need a permit to run a jib over peoples heads.Check over at www.dvinfo.net in the forums there is a jib / crane section.

Hey Thanks for chiming  :) in,
A jib can be very dangerous. Have you ever ran a Jib? Where? When?

So...I am not using a Tripod. I am a former DJ and I had my speaker stands(JBL's raited at 80 lbs) Mod'd at a machine shop with 1/2 " stud and a swivel. No worries mate.

I am contacting my friend in LA who has used a Jib, about legal issues. This brings me back to the question.
Have you ever used a jib?
When?
Where?

I wanna play with a jib, i have been watching a lot of music concerts on the palladia channel.  It's pretty inspiring, I actually get excited when i see camera gear in the shot!

I see lots of jibs up by the stage off to the side, just depends on what you want to shoot i guess.

Let us know what you find out.
