Darktrain 13 cm Delrin mic bar setup
« on: February 24, 2013, 03:53:42 PM »
Here is my setup using a short (13 cm) Darktrain Delrin mic bar with DIY 1" riser.  Mics are in DINa in this shot.  I'll use the outside holes for DIN.  I also have 3/8" black o-rings between the bar and the mic mounts to give the mounts a nice firm grip.

Well done Rory. The Delrin bar certainly is a nice addition and it gives you a ton of options. Is the DIY riser made from stuff laying around or a trip to the hardware store? I have made a similar riser with two K&M adapters 21700n 3/8f - 5/8m, a threaded 21600n 3/8m-5/8f and a threaded Windtech m-1 stud adapter.

I actually made the DIY riser a couple years ago but didn't use it since I found I had enough clearance on my K&M adjustable bar if I flipped one of the sides to be on the opposite side of the center and then added a 5/8>3/8 + 3/8>5/8 pairing of adapters.  It is a 3/8' coupling nut with a 3/8" bolt I shortened (by hacksaw and file) and epoxied to the coupling nut.  The delrin mic bar will be a simpler setup for me and I'll probably use it 95% of the time.

ETA: I found I can get the same 1" if I use two sets of 5/8>3/8 + 3/8>5/8 pairing of adapters, but I figured since I had the DIY one in my bag all this time, I should use it.

You know the bolts go through the hole and then spin freely so you can "aim" and tighten the mounts at any angle you wish?  In this pic you are leaving them in the hole and compensating with a O-ring, no need, just screw the bolt through the hole.

Did you get the rubber washer idea from my post ??? Great idea and has a very secure grip on the mic mounts
