Pops in soundforge after DAT transfer
« on: July 21, 2004, 11:32:29 AM »
I've got what I think is some clipping in the recording I made of DMB last night.  I'm just not sure why this is happening.   If anybody can alert me as to why these clips are in there that would be great.  They are pretty much throughout the whole recording.  This is what I run:

akg ck61s>active>jk labs dvc>mod sbm-1>d8

I ran the levels pretty hot.  I had the SBM-1 up to about 9.  The overload lights on the SBM-1 came on at certain points but they would just light up and go off so I didn't think anything was wrong.

For my conversion I use:
d8>optical>egosys u2a waveterminal>soundforge 5.0

I just lisented to the DAT again and the clips aren't on the tape so it must be something in the conversion.

Like I said if anybody who is familiar with soundforge can take a listen and let me know how to fix this or why it happened or both that would be great.

I emailed you a screen shot of what it looks like.  Man, this is really pissing me off.  I have never run into this before.  I used a maxell hs/4 90m tape.  I just got some last week.  Think this has anything to do with it.  Somebody shed some light on this for me.  The DAT sounds kick ass and the show was awesome and I need to fix this ASAP!

So you have successfully used the same equipment to do transfers before?
