ad500e need help!

I just got an ad500e today and would like to run it in about 24 hours at trey in vt.  Thing is I have never run an a/d before, and don't know how to use it.  Anyone willing to give me a rundown on how this thing works?  

BTW it will be MBHO 603 ka200n>MP-2>Ad500e>DA-P1.

heres the thing to keep in mind when setting your levels on it- you want to be lighting up your main lights and just every once in a while touching your soft limit light (with soft limit on)

Forget the soft limit, you don't need it. You have to really go over to clip that thing.

Agreed, keep it in the yellows most of the time with the highest peaks barely hitting the reds.

You rarely need softlimit, but when the situation arises, you'll be glad you have it.
