using c1000>ua-5>jb3. which configuration have you heard or used that gave you the best results  in a small bar with very poor acoustics. only the guitar and vocals are run through the PA.

run on stage or as close to stage as possible. ortf should yeild good results. worst case scenario -point at stacks.

I run the exact same rig.  I get about 15-30' from the stage dead center and ORTF the "heat".  If that spot is not available I will do either of the following...get right up to the stack (like Dre mentioned) or break out the 15 footer and crank that fool up above everyone (if the club allows me too).  Worse comes to worse get a SBD patch.

poor acoustics and only vox and guitar coming into pa....what eles is there, anything?...try an unobtrusive din or ortf right up in there...meaning on stage and damn near in his face...well in between guitar and his face.  If you cant do that then you already have some suggestions.

have fun

thanks for the suggestions and helping a rookie. i am leaning towards ORTF. in this bar it is so small that the drums and bass still sound good anywhere in the room, it is only about 30 feet from the band to the back wall of the room. this room is not set up for music at all. my friends run the place and play there often so we are going to mount a bar permantly from the ceiling to mount the mics.
