I initially thought I wanted the b&w cdm 7 series and while this is a viable option still, I am looking for other recs. I have about $900 to spend and the remaining system goes asl aq1000 with dat and toshiba 4960 with a dac hopefully OTW. helper?

The Klipsch Heresy II's sound great with my ASL. For full range, kinda need a sub too though... but the Klipschhorns are really efficient on the highs, IMO. They just need a little help on the lowend.

I would guess these go down to the 30-40Hz range, I personally have never heard them, but we
do use Dynaudio Esostar tweeters for all our egglestonworks speakers, and Dynaudio woofers.
I do believe Dynaudio USA uses different drivers than we do, but I'm sure they are still quality.
Maybe someone can elaborate more on Dynaudio Sound.

Trey I’ve been drooling over these forever and went last Thursday and auditioned them for about 2 hours. I loved them so much im going to pick up a pair in rose wood. Audiogon has a few for sale at about 1/2 price but they just upgraded some of the drivers and I want the new versions. If you can seriously look into them very efficient and the sound will knock you off your feet. Since I’m an ESL the ribbon tweeter keeps that great HI end I love. Go listen and let me know what you think…

save up a few hundred more, and get the VR2s.
they go down to 25hz. Plenty of low end. a very dynamic speaker.

neat little tidbit, Albert Von Schweikert helped design the Egglestonworks Savoy.
I like his speaker design, hadn't sold me on the the out-of-phase mid/tweet yet, but
they sound nice.

Those are Mic D's (Kevin Durant). I've heard them and they sound great.

Vandersteen 2CIs or 2CEs can be easily had in that price range.

I'm personally on a Proac bender right now, and I recommend you check some out, esp. with your tubes. Their models with extended bass response are more $$$ but they do move used now and then.

I auditioned some of the new Proac Studio 140s the other day. Nice! They have the tweeter from the Response series, two 6.5" woofers and are floor-ported, which made setup very flexible.

Another good speaker that can be had used in the low-$1K range is the PSB Stratus Gold, esp. if bass is Job 1.

And Von Schweikerts, of course -- they are popular here for a reason

When we are talking full range, are we talking 25, 30, or higher as far as bass response? When I think full range, I think 20, but you would have to spend a TON to get that kind of bass repsonse...and the speaks would probably weigh about 200 lbs a piece as well.

same here...but 2CEs can be had for $600 or so. They definitely need a big room and lotsa power to sound decent. But I've heard them sing nicely when conditions are right. At least they aren't bright. YMMV

I like those Dynaudio's, I always wanted to try a pair. I have read good things about them, I am sure you will like them. If not you can always sell them & try something else.
