Thanks for interes,showed to our gears. Hmm...this not simply
task...if  cathod heater demand 6v DC, but anod feeding of tubes
demand 300v DC high quality feeding.Simple way - to make the converter
of a voltage 12DC to 300v DC - but it means creation of the generator
of a AC voltage for this purpose, and does not guarantee a
high-quality voltage on an output of this power supply unit... that is
it can render bad influence on sounding as noise and handicapes, and
as a whole it is bad to influence a sound. That is it contradicts
concept Hi-End equipment, which is used exclusively in studio - also
for the reason that only in studio possibly have good sounding in
all-for all instruments,without any handicaps. As if to record in
"field" conditions....
That is- it`s experiment with not predicted result - is possible to
waste time on researches (only for one device) and to not receive
necessary results.
Earlier, in 50 years, existed tube radioreceivers which have feeding
from special batteries - 200-300v, they represented a set of batteries
or accumulators with voltage of 20-30v, connected sequentially.
Batteries / accumulators are capable to give high-quality DC
feeding-as against the converter.
We can make the version with special 4 DC feeding pins on rear panel:
+/-6-12v for heater of cathod, and +/-300v for anod feeding(besides
usual power feeding from 110v net,of course), if you can find special
battery/accumulators for it.
Or second variant - diesel generator.
You can try for it purpouses also computer uninterrupted power supply
unit with continuous action (only) - it gives better feeding (cost ab.
200-250 $) - but  also is constructed on the basis of the generator,
and it`s difficult for me to predict a result -  it`s intended for a
feed of  computer, digital device...
On sale there are automobile converters 12DC to 110 or 220V AC - also
constructed on the electronic generator. Can try. But it`s difficult
for us to guarantee final qualitative result. Hi-End equipment means
stationary use, thus we can guarantee qualitative work of the device.

Agreed.  After owning a YS Symphonies and PrimaLuna Prologue One I'm a big believer in well build Chinese hifi equipment.

The only piece I own doesn't qualify as well built... ASL AV-20 monoblocks... had a hum in one 'em I couldn't get rid of using normal methods, so I jumped inside... it was horrible... 120VAC wires rubbing against signal wires... grounding post rusting, with no "crimp washers"... or any washers for that matter, etc.

But these were super cheap... to the point of being disposable

Cayin also has a good rep.
I bought a  used Jolida and modded it, but I could not see clear to sending any ching straight to China.
If the US were under Chinese rule, I doubt that the Dead, JamBands, or even .... String Cheese Incident would exist.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? 

Not to make light of the situation but I have a limited budget to spend on my hobbies and I want to get the most out of my money.  I respect those who choose not to spend their money on Chinese built goods for moral reasons but I'd rather get the best product available within my budget regardless of its origin.

ok if you want to talk social conscious when purchasing let's consider a few things:

Neumann used to supply microphones to the Nazis (you can tell this in old ww2 footage)
Most of our cables are made from earth raping core metals
Vacuum tubes do horrible environmental damage in their production
Many products sold by american companies are made overseas where the cost of labor is cheaper

I guess my point is, I understand socially conscious purchasing, and if that makes you feel better, go right ahead, but for me- I'm buying the highest quality for my money.

i love my modded jolida. made in china, and held in very high regard...

as for the politics, and politically motivated purchasing... i dont think it makes any difference to the bottom line, but it might make some sleep better at night...

those kind of economic responses work from a top down approach (embargos and the like), but i dont see how the individual efforts make any difference at all (again, excepting the way you feel in your own conscience)

Is the "a" series handwired or does it use a Printed Circuit Board ?
