I am a sequoia user, and also own Samp. Pro V8. For those that multitrack, this is an outstanding program.  I wouldnt think of using anything else.

49 Bucks for SE...excellent legit software that doesnt break the bank!

Does this mean that files in the SE version are not in float format?

yeah, it uses 32 bit FP like the rest of Magix programs. this is great, because the upgrades are cheaper too....great introduction to one of , if not THE best Audio recording/mixing/mastering programs around.
Good to see samplitude to offer deals like this.. ,helps combat cracked versions.

What do you use, Gordon? I have sequoia and samp pro v8(bought samp pro to record in, and bring the files back to my studio, and dump into sequoia) I got a KILLER deal on Pro v8...200 bucks. couldnt pass that up.

how do the dithering scheme(s) sound Teddy?

Does this handle files pretty quickly? I've got SF 8.0 and CEP 2.1. SF doesn't seem too slow, but I feel like CEP takes forever to open and process 24bit files.

Yes, the audio engine is very efficient, CPU usage is minimal, dithering sounds fantastic, (pow-r and traingular spread noise dither).

the best thing about Samplitude/Sequoia is that almost ALL processing  is done "virtually" on the fly, real time... No rendering, and the effects are not destructive. the original file is not edited in any way. you make all the edits to the "virtual project" and then choose if you want to save it..if you dont like the edits, undo em. the original is 100% untouched. the stock plugins are fantastic too!

thanks for the heads up Teddy - I'm gonna check out a trial/demo version to see how i like the interface, but 49 EUR is hard to beat, even with a weak dollar

What is the difference between the "intro" and "pro" versions?

Just curious what they hold out to make you pay more later on...

I use Samplitude pretty much exclusively. Been using it since version 5, and have bought upgrades up to version 8. It was the first program I know of that supported 96kHz recording, float format files and floating point arithmetic. It started out as a sampling program on the Amiga (remember that one?), and they decided to make it into a recording program.

Yes, as you have mentioned one of the strength's of this program is it's speed. You use objects which represent the files you have recorded. You can drag them around on the screen in any order you want. This is very handy when arranging tracks for CD's.

I use it a lot for testing. I generate rectangular waves in the software, set it to loop and record them using the pocket pc.

I have to test files which have been "autosplit" by the Live2496 software. To do that I just slide the objects in place next to each other and zoom in.

I like the "snap" feature in which objects snap in place to the current cursor position or next to an object.

I haven't used Sequoia, but it's pretty much like Samplitude other than the unique crossfade feature.
