converting RM > avi

any recommendation on what to use to do this?  I got zilisoft rm converter and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.  I put the files in to encode and nothing happens no matter how long I let it go. 

better yet is this what I should be doing  (converting to avi) if the end result is going to be a dvd?
