Banter between audience and band...post-editing issue
« on: May 21, 2006, 03:26:34 PM »
When using the SP-C4's, sometimes I'd be guilty of adding a little volume to bring out the audience if there is banter between audience and the band. Now I'm using the hyper cards from Peluso and audience chatter is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker...should I just forget about the banter and be happy with the show, which is what I came for in the first place? But isn't banter part of the show?

it's your recording so do what you want, if you like the banter make it louder if you think it needs it.

If it were me I'd leave it as is - i generally track my shows so I don't have to listen to the banter at all.

this may be the 1st post I've ever read where someone thought the audience was too quiet   :)

If there is really good banter from the band(like something that makes the show memorable) I'll add some volume to it, but in general it is not worth the editing time to me.

But there are some bands where the banter adds so much more to the show...

Take YMSB for instance, Jeff Austin could almost be a professional comedian if he wasn't such a killer Mandolin player...

In cases such as YMSB, I would definitelty try and get the banter...

But as for pointless banter; it's just that, pointless...

Take this post for instance, pointless banter...

If my reponse got edited out, it wouldn't change this thread in any way...

Same can be said for some stage banter...
