Sample rate error-help me out guys!
« on: May 30, 2007, 12:30:54 PM »
Hey guys,
I can't figure this one out; any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  So I run the AD2K->MT.  I was running the AD2k in 16 bit (NS2).  The sample rate was set to 48Khz.  I taped three sets; the first two came out fine.  The third however shows up as a 44.1Khz file.  During playback it sounds "slow'd down".  This happened to me a long time ago when my D7 was set to 33Khz.  Can't explain it this time...Pretty sure there is no way to correct this after-the-fact, right?

The Microtrack can only be set to "Auto" for the sampling rate when running it in SPDIF mode.  The sampling rate on the 2k was most certianly set to 48Khz and I checked afterwards to be sure.  The only way I can explain this is I might have began recoding on the MT and THEN switched on the 2k.  Maybe the MT defaults to 44.1 if a signal is not present?

Again, if anyone has any ideas as to what may have happened I would REALLY appreciate it.  This has been driving me nuts for the past couple days.

Thanks in advance!
Jesse

definitely sounds like a mismatched wav header. were you running the V3 at the time, and if so was 44.1 or 48 selected? regardless it is a pretty easy fix in post.

Thanks Brian.  I'll check out that thread..

TJ-I was running the V3 analog out->AD2k.  The V3's AD was off.

Thanks,
Jesse

So the file shows up as 44.1kHz when I look at the properties.  This would be the header that it is reading?  The data is actually 48kHz then if it is "slow"?

So in Sound Forge, I'd "set the sample rate"  to 48kHz (without resampling), and then resample to 44.1?

Thanks for the responses guys, I really appreciate your help!

Sorry if I got any drool on your 722 the other night TJ.. ;)

+T's all around!

If you want to keep the file as 48k, no need to resample, of course.  If your final sample rate is 44.1, then yes - do what you wrote.
