sorry to ask such a question, but i am looking for a free, easy to use program for my girlfriend.

she swears her home PC has no photo editing program, only viewing, and she needs to take a pic of herself and email it to her boss (which will be entertaining:  her trying to figure out the delay and such)



I am too far from home to stop by and help...


soooo, any program recs for a computer dullard?

It's sluggish compared to Photoshop, but what do you expect for free?

For basic stuff Picasa from Google rocks. It is great for basics such as exposure, white balance, cropping, resize and some basic custom edits.  Beyond that you are pretty much best off going with Photoshop full or LE.  I use it all the time for family photos and stuff that I just want to make some quick edits to.  Lightroom would be another good choice, but it is $200 and Picasa gives you about 75% of what Lightroom has.

for the canon users, I use digital photo professional for all my pics.  Such a great workflow to do simple edits like assign white balance, brightness, tones, saturation and sharpness and do to do batch processing from raw to tif or jpeg.  I do all my stuff in this and then pick the ones I want to do more work with and open in CS3.
