I own a Panasonic SD 99 which is similar to the US model Panasonic HDC-SD90 High Definition Camcorder ....I am using the Edirol R09-HR and the Sony M10 to record Audio during the concert I am filming...So I am asking myself if can I use the headphone jack and connect it to the SD99 mricofon jack(1/8 male to male jumper cable)..or is the signal to hot for the camera or do I need an attentuator.
maybe somebody can point me in the right direction....

Are you able to set it up and see for yourself? Instead of running LINE-OUT, turn the M10 output jack into a Headphone out and you can adjust the level of that output. If its too hot simply turn down the LINE-OUT/Headphone volume and you *should* be good to go ;)

I was scared to ruin the camera with a signal/voltage that's to high....But what you proposed is what I actually had in mind....using the headphone out of the M10 into the mic in of the SD 99

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but won't you still have drift between the audio source and the video source if you do this method?

you need to test this before diving in and learning the hard way like i did
if you use the m10 volume to adjust the headphone jack thats cool except there is no way to know if the level is still to hot or low
if you can record the opening act then playback some of the tape and see if you brickwall/clip you will be able to know if you are to high
and you shouldn't have to worry about drift because the camera is capturing the audio from the recorder directly
with all that said, i have a 20db attenuator i use now and it worked perfect with my canon and fr2le
i have sold the fr2le and not tried the m10 yet but i am much more confident its going to be fine vs adjusting the headphone volume

While there might be a slight delay between analog input and analog output on the M10 it will be constant. The drift issue occurs when you digitize the signal for writing. Different quartz timing circuits have a slightly different frequency and cause drift.

correct, but since you would be worried about drift of the audio and video it shouldn't be an issue because the camera is going to capture and write the audio it is fed at the same time capture the video its sees
even if there was a slight delay due to the m10 or even distance/zoom from the stage, you would be able to adjust the file once and be done with it

just ran my m10 > canon cam for the first time and it sounds great on import
had the m10 levels peaking around -10 > -20 attenuator, will boost the audio in fcp a little once i get that far if it needs it

not that i'm aware of (on this cam)
i just go line out from my fr2le or (now) m10 > mic in on the camera
with my hd cam i have a lot more control

a lot of cams (my Canon HFS200 for instance) have built in volume limiter settings, which work great.
