LC3KA to lemo connections for Lemosax?
« on: June 11, 2007, 10:03:18 PM »
Has anyone gotten their cables converted from the new style to the old style with lemo connectors recently?  Neumann Service in CT claim they don't do it.

I believe that they are correct. They moved away from the lemo to the "new" connectors, eliminating the need for the KA-100. It was due to many problems/repairs associated with the lemo connector. They consider the newer setup more bomber. However, you might try contacting folks who work on Neumann mics, but don't work for Sennheiser. There are several excellent ones out there. You never know.

Good luck!

the "lemo" connector has no electronics in it that i'm aware of.
can it be a matter of "snip snip, hack hack, solder solder" and viola?
If that is the consensus...., and someone has a cable they'd like to try it on, i'm game.

the new cable adapbter?
I"ve seen lemo > adapter > KA100 but thats it.

the more I think of this, the more I believe that the end of current cable can be replaced w/a lemo.  I can't see why not.  the 'active" part is in the end that connects to the AK capsule, driving the signal down the cable to the mic preamp body.  If you can get the lemo "head" for the KA100, then that'll work out fine.
otherwise, lemo > SAX  it is.
