Learning Logic after a long time w Audacity is my slow-season project.
(Reaper sucks for vision-impaired folk like me).
Got a lot of things sorted but can't figure out best workflow to export a track as mulitple files based on markers of some sort. I've seen references to locators, markers, and regions and suspect it's some combo of them.
What works best?
TIA

I took a look at the Logic Pro manual and it appears that it's pretty similar to RX in the methodology.
If I understand what you are wanting to do, it's basically track out a show file and export each track as an individual file.
I don't use Logic Pro but it seems you just place your cursor (playhead in Logic speak) where you want the track to start and press "Add Marker". The Marker List will allow you to name the Marker, etc.
Then, it's just File > Export > Export All Tracks as Audio Files.
That would seem to be the easiest way. In RX, when regions are created, it shows the start and end times of each track. I'll leave it to you to play around a bit and you'll get the hang of it.

Then, it's just File > Export > Export All Tracks as Audio Files.
Thanks so much for your help! Much appreciated.
In Logic, Export All Tracks is used to export the various tracks that make up a song. Tracks in this case are the components of the song, and are arranged vertically in the global tracks window. For example, drum track, guitar track, vocal track.
My research indicates that one can export regions as separate tracks. So I dropped and named markers. No luck figuring out how to convert markers to regions so far.
Thanks again!

ok I'm trying to learn Logic Pro, and don't see a direct way to export individual song tracks based on markers which I've placed.
Hint please?
Manually select each song and make regions in the one track and then export based on those?
Split the one long track into individual tracks one per song and then export based on those?

Just do it in Audacity like i have for the past 20 years?

Morst,
I never figured it out and went back to Audacity, where it's easy.
Audacity also handles 32 bits and polywaves, neither of which Logic can deal with.
Just hit 8 shows in 9 nights on 2 continents, and using Audacity was able to post all the shows the day after.
Audacity works for me and I'm just gonna stick with.

I'm not sure that Logic allows you to automatically bounce segments between markers. In most DAWs, markers are just meant as named, to mark sections, not to denote segments. I think Reaper has the ability to convert markers to segments (or some other word they use) and then export those segments, but I don't believe Logic has that feature.
The way I do it in ProTools, and i know it works in Logic as well, is to use markers, and then highlight the area between each marker and bounce the current selection. It's annoyingly manual, but it works fine and doesn't really take all that long

Logic handles both polywaves and 32bit just fine

Great to hear; wasn't the case last time I tried Logic.

I just tried it with 10.6.3, from 2021, and was able to open a 96/32 6 track polywave from my mixpre 10-ii

But can it export tracks? I am about to do a cut and paste move and see how much i hate it.

I track with a cue sheet, I've never tried to use regions in logic.

Is this cue sheet of which you speak a feature of Logic? Can you explain a little about how that works? You are able to get individual song files from Logic Pro using this technique?
I'm ready to give up on the idea that Logic is any good for more than one song at a time. Can't believe people actually use it.
-
the cue sheet works with xact. i process the show in logic, and cut it into sets. Then use xact to chop it up. it’s how i’ve done it for 25 years.

how do you cut it into sets? in logic? Do you have to type in time numbers?

I actually just stop recording between sets, so just open those files and trim them to the part I want to use, and then create a text file cue sheet that is used to further chop it up.

Ya do what you know I guess :)

Stumbled across this tread while looking for help with using Logic Pro to track songs. While you can add markers and manually bounce each song it's time consuming. It would be nice if Logic had a batch export but it unfortunately does not. So for now my process is to us Logic for sound processing and then use Audacity to add fades and chop up in to tracks.

If I had to guess, it probably takes about as long to export from logic and set up in audacity as it would to just bounce manually in logic…
