Title: does the type of charger (AA NIMH) make a difference?

I have 8 AA Powerex NIMHs but the charger only has room for 4, doubling my charging time...i have a La Crosse Technology charger that i got with these batteries, it's kinda fancy. 
i also have a random radioshack charger for 4 batteries that seems to work too, and faster...is it okay to use this charger, and will it have an effect on the set of batteries when they have been charged differently?
