Title: Mic-in question... is it possible?

hello
it might sound stupid but oh well..

i have a HC42 sony camcorder and i've been using HST1 mic plugged in the active interface shoe... it gives me pretty decent audio, but it became really hard to stealth with a big thing like that..

i did a little research and found this:

so, if i got it right, i'll have a mic-in jack in my camcorder..

but then, searching about this adapter.. i found this: "...caused by the 2.1 v of 'plug in power' that it's jack puts out"

i'm not sure, but as it seems, this adapter provides 2,0~2,5v of plug-in-power...

so i want to know if i can - or if it would make any sense actually - plug a battery box/preamp (wich one?) to this mic-in (in order to use my church cardioids, for example) or just stick with those "camcorder mics" such as sony ECM-MS907?

I don't have any experience with this, but I don't see why this shouldn't work fine with a battery box.  The box will just provide more power to your mics and pass the mic signal through to the shoe interface. 

My son sometimes uses a little SoundPros preamp and AT943 mics into a line-in jack on his Sony digicam (not sure what model he's got) and it's a big improvement over the integrated mics, but a preamp might overload your mic-in interface.

i just want to know if i can have any problems running a battery box in the mic-in jack.. and it seems its ok to do that

unfortunatly my cam does not have a line-in  :-\
