What are people using for these stereo bars?  Schoeps A20 or A20s?

FWIW, I use the A20S.  I found with the NOS bar and Shure A81WS, the A20 was a little less stable.  Though it probably works fine for that setup, I just felt more comfortable with the A20S.

I have the A20 with a Kwon Bar. It works very good. The Kwon bar with my mk4's is very light.

I use the A20 for my DIN, DINA, NOS, and ORTF.  It is still very stable with my walmart (windshield washer handle custom - $2.89) NOS bar.

FYI - the two shock mounts are identical save for the elastic itself.  In other words, if you've got an A20 and want a stiffer setup, replacing the elastics is all that's needed.  The plastic parts are the same.

My own experience says that the A20 elastics don't hold up very well, but I'm not really sure what caused mine to stretch out and need replacement - too much weight in the rig, sunlight, or looking at them the wrong way.  Probably just age and bad luck, but the new A20S elastics took only a few minutes to string and work great so far.  :)

i've got an a20s, and the kwon nos bar is actually a little too loose for my taste.  my ortf bar fits in nice a snug, but nos is a little loose... :(

I spoke with Jerry at Posthorn Friday, he discouraged me from using the A20s elastic unless I was using the vark bar  and sgc clips. I often use the A20 with my ccm4, and the elastic is very loose, but manageable. He claims the stiffer elastic will significantly affect the vibrations transmitted to the mic. Hmmm.
In any rate, he's sending me a new yoke for a sgc clip for free, and talked me out of buying new elastic.
I assume you'd want the A20s elastic with the kwon bar

I use an A20S with my NOS kwon bar and AK caps.  I have not yet had any issue with vibrations even when my stand has been kicked, but what you were told is essentially correct.  If you are worried about it being too stiff and decide to go with the A20, get some extra elastic so that if the softer stuff wears out you can replace it.

you can buy the respective bands (for a20 or a20s) from posthorn for $5 a set. the actual mount is exactly the same. i picked up a used a20 for $50 and the a20s elastics for $5 so i can test for myself which i prefer
