Adapter?
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:28:13 PM »
I bought a light stand on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Heavy-Duty-10-ft-Light-Stand-New_W0QQitemZ120205659930QQihZ002QQcategoryZ30080QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Look at the top of the lightstand where the thread is.
I have a shure vert bar, and will be getting an akg km235 stereo bar.
Will I need some sort of adapter piece going from the thread on the lightstand,
into the vert bar and/or the stereo bar?
Thanks in advance all.

Lots of adapter here if you can determine the size thread on your stand...

Hi Terry.
Any idea on how to do that?
Count the threads?

I'm sure it's the 1/4" thread for cameras.  The rapid adapter rules.  I'm telling you.   ;D

I guess my link didn't cut/paste:

http://www.micsupply.com/standaccessories.htm

Yeah, from the description of the stand, looks like it has a 5/8" stem...  Not sure if the threading is appropriate for Mics, you might have to test it when it arrives...

The Bogen thingy described above works on anything...

The photo (which means nothing) looks like it has a 3/8" camera adapter on it...

Looks petty nice, and a decent price taboot.
Am I going to need something else.
I'm looking at the bottom of the vert bar where it would attach to the stand.

Yes get the rapid adapter with the additional 3/8 -> 5/8 adapter and it will fit the AKG KM235 stereo bar.

Here is a photo of what I run top end for near coincident - the whole thing broken down:

Rapid Adapter - terminates in 3/8 male thread.

3/8 -> 5/8 adapter - terminates in 5/8 male thread

KM235 - accepts 5/8 male thread

It is the one on micsupply.com that has the photo.  $17

Well I called and e-mailed micsupply a few times, but I'm getting the runaround  ???
So I may have to get the Bogen one instead.
If I do get the bogen one,
I will need an additional 1/4"-20 to 5/8" adapter for the bolt at the top, right?
Also does anyone know where to get a 1/4"-20 to 5/8" adapter to go with the rapid stand adapter?
Thanks fellas.

OK, I am not absolutely sure because I got mine from micsupply, but I *think* these are the equivalents for the TBar.  Never used the vert so I have no idea what it takes:

Bogen/AKG:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/5357-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_3102_5_8_Stud_to_3_8_.html

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/286147-REG/AKG_KM217_3_8_Female_to_5_8_.html

Knockoffs:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/271577-REG/Delta_21246_Rapid_Adapter_5_8_.html

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/400111-REG/On_Stage_MA300_MA300_Screw_Adapter.html

Hopefully someone can confirm?.  B&H should be pretty good about returns but it's still a pain in the ass to have to mess with shipping something back.

Wow thanks robert!
I'm gonna grab the first set that you posted.
Yeah, the vert bar will screw right onto the adapter.
Thanks brother!
