ah, yeah, but were you running a dat backup as you recorded to your laptop?
recording straight to your laptop means if SF shit the bed, then you're screwed. right? there was no transferring error; it occurred at the show.
sf lost a transfer for me once. that really sucked.
the error did NOT occur at the show, it occurred post show while pasting the 2 files back together.
since i set wavelab to split files at 1300 mb (that's about 74+ minutes of 24bit/48khz audio) there were two files for the show. i pasted the 2nd at the end of the 1st, and the resulting file was just over 2gb, which should have been a no-no and sf should have stopped me (if it was written better). i tried to save this file to the original file name and got some error - not about file size nor about available drive space (which was also running low). then i tried to save again to a new file name, got another error, again not concerning the issues above (size and space), and closed the file. i went to find it and it was gone, in it's place a completely empty file with the new name i gave it.
the dat backup i have came analog out of my headphone monitor on the usbpre, so it's not going to be as superb as the 24/48 digitally pure signal because the headphone monitor isn't the greatest transfer method...but at least it's still my source. if it sounds ok i will trade it, if not i'll get another source.
that's the low down of the high times.
