Dithering to 16/44.1 (from 24/48) in Adobe Audition 3
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:30:56 PM »
When I go to dither, called "Convert Sample Rate" I get a window of options. This is my first show I've recorded in 24 bit, so I'd love some help.

What settings do you guys generally use when dithering? Should I just uncheck "Enable Dither" (that sounds disastrous).

Thanks!

Someone more knowledgeable may know even better settings, but I copied this from somewhere and it has worked fine for me:

Dithering In Audition
•   Main Menu:  Edit | Convert Sample Type
•   Set Channels to Stereo (should be already)
•   Set Sample Rate to 44100
•   Tick the Pre/Post Filter checkbox
•   Set the Pre/Post Filter slider to the desired quality
•   Set Resolution to 16-bit
•   Tick the Enable Dithering checkbox
•   Set Dither Depth to 1
•   Set p.d.f. to Triangular
•   Set Noise Shaping to No Noise Shaping
