Post by: abstractstar on May 16, 2005, 08:47:48 AM
hi, anyone have experience with this one:
http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-BMC-2
?

it's going for 40 bucks now!  :o

judging from the info & reviews at the soundpro site they are quite amazing!
there was also one small thread about them here on taperssection, which said
they really performed well.

i'm grateful for any info/thoughts/experience about these...
they fit my budget very well!  :D

I've taped a coupla shows with them, stealth-mounted in kroakies.  I'm happy with them.

Try them out.  For $40, what's to lose?  You can use them if you like them.  If you don't, sell them...or keep them as a back-up set.

I have the SP BMC-3s, which have identical specs but a brass casing and optional mini clips. I have been using them for a month now and have been quite pleased. The quality is very good and the price can't be beat. I have used them for stealth recording an outdoor blues show, as well as for open recording of our basement jam sessions, solo piano, solo female vocal, and various ambient sounds. In all cases, any flaws in the recording were from crowd noise, movement, my kids trying to get my attention, etc--not from the quality of the mics themselves.

I am using them with Sony MZ-RH10 minidisc. This rig replaces my aging and more voluminous cassette-based system (Uher CR240 + Marantz PMD430 decks, Nak CM300 mics).

Cheers,
