Title: Windscreens for DPA 4061s - Worth it?
Post by: Aaron41 on May 10, 2006, 02:13:15 AM
I'm sitting Bonnaroo this summer and just realized I should probably get some windscreens. I know it isn't very cheap to get windscreens for 4061s though. Are they worth getting or would it be silly for mics that small?

These windscreens are only $20 and are very similar to the rycote windjammers.

I asked that some time ago and didn't get a satisfying answer so I bought the original dpa windscreens to test them... and came to the conclusion that they didn't help anything except for making the mics bigger and more noticeable.

But keep in mind that I tested them with strong winds because all my recordings in low wind situations came out perfectly without them.

yes, just like any other mics (though probably to a lesser degree for some reason) you will want to use windscreens for these mics, to block out windnoise and such; the DPA brand comes in five packs for $25 or something like that, I even have a single I will mail you free to make it an even six pack if you would like, DPA will drop ship them to you I believe too, it will be a great investment
