Title: Apogee MiniMe Repair, what did they fix?
Post by: mblindsey on March 24, 2012, 05:19:34 PM

I sent my MiniMe in for repair and asked them to fix the MON knob (slightly pushed in, but working), fix the intermittant S/PDIF connection, and bring it into spec.  Here are the notes I got back:

"M020225 with USB card installed: replaced P1 S/PDIF connector, fixed MON,L & R pots + installed springs. updated R108 & CR13. burn-in, calibrated per mfg's specs & tested via AP/itunes,nff. (USD$99)"

- The S/PDIF connector is obvious
- Looks like they addressed the MON as asked, and L/R pots + springs (I didn't notice anything wrong with them, but I'm cool with that)
- What is this?  "updated R108 & CR13. burn-in, calibrated per mfg's specs & tested via AP/itunes,nff"  I get the "burn-in", but can anyone decipher the rest?

...the two people at Apogee I spoke with couldn't answer.

I'm happy with them...just wondering what they did.

Thanks!

Are the R108(resistor) and CR13(ceramic resistor)...bad resistors?    peace OOK

Here's my view...

[Updated] would indicate a circuit revision or modification, probably a service bulletin was issued for models falling within a certain range of serial numbers.

R is a designator for a resistor

D or CR are both designators for a diode, although D is most typically used, CR refers to Crystal Rectifier.  The mini me uses a reference crystal oscillator as a clock.  Thus it's very likely CR = Crystal Rectifier /AKA/ CRystal in this unit.

However, CR could possibly be a Carbon Resistor or Control Relay.
