Title: Anyone run V2 > R-09? Questions about that set up.
Post by: bgalizio on July 29, 2007, 01:11:29 PM: Does anyone here run a V2 > R-09 for the back half of their rig? I'm thinking that would be a nice, small set-up (if a V2 could ever be found, that is). I don't think anyone is running this with Pelusos, but I'd still like to hear comments on the sound.

If so, would it be preferable to go XLR out or RCA out, considering you're going to a mini jack on the R-09.

i ran xlr > mini, i've actually never used the rca out on my v2. not really sure if there is an advantage to one or the other.

Thanks for the reply! I was thinking the sound quality would be pretty good, as from what I've heard the R-09 A/D is pretty good.

Now that you have a 722, when is your V2 for sale :)

i'd leave the r09 set at 8 and adjust the levels on the v2

Post by: Jamos on August 01, 2007, 01:08:11 PM: I think using the RCA outs on the V2 would match up much better with the R-09. Then you'd be staying with the unbalanced signal that's not as hot as the XLR outs.

This way you should be able to adjust your mic levels without having to worry about overloading the R-09's input.

I ran V3>R09 once, and didn't need attenuators. I ran the V3 at around 10 0' clock and had the R09 at 7. I was running Schoeps CMC/MK4 FWIW. If running hotter mics or a board feed your mileage may vary.
