Connectors for Schoeps
« on: February 10, 2006, 05:23:54 PM »
hi !

i want to run a pair of schoeps mk4s with my sonosax m2.
it isnt a 'lemosax' though.
before i start saving lots of money for a lemosax i wonder if its possible to connect the mk4's to my 'normal' m2 with some sort of connectors like schoeps has listed them on their website ( http://www.schoeps.de/E-2004/cables.html#aksu2u ) like for example the 'k5 lu' ?
or do i really have to save my money for a new lemosax?

any ideas?

thanx so much!

alex

the mk4s need a mic body/amplifier (like a cmc6) between them and a mic pre.  You could, however, purchase ccm4s which would interface directly with the sax (or any other pre)

hi!

as i want to run them stealth my mic setup will be:

mk4s - actives - m2 - d100

is the kcy cable in combination with a lemosax the only option for me?.

cheers :) !

KCY with an SX-M2/LS2 or modified KC5 cables with 3-pin LEMO connectors into either an SX-M2/LS or /LS2.  The /LS2 is an updated version that adds the 5-pin connector found on the KCY cable.

Alex -- if you're set on mk4s and on using a sax, yes, the lemosax is your only option.  Note, however, that the ccm4s are identical in size (and sound) to the mk4/active setup and will plug directly into a "normal" preamp (i.e. an unmodded sax).  The one disadvantage to ccm4s is that their capsules aren't interchangable.  Another option is the nbox (which would serve the same purpose as the lemosax).
