seems like it wouldn't be any different to me...
If anyone is gonna try this out please let me know so I can send you some $ to order extra parts and build a cable for me too... ;) ;) 8)

my question is, why not cut the optical portion of the chain out altogether? Could you not remove the transmitter in the SBM cable and solder the leads directly to the output of the reciever jack inside the JB3?

I think it basically comes down to just that most ppl would prefer to modify a cable rather than modify their JB-3.

after as much optical cable bullshit as I had to deal with when I had my jb3, I'd modify the hell out of that thing if it meant having a real copper wire carrying signal...

I think there was a post somewhere on the Oade forum where Doug mentioned what would be required to modify the JB3 to have a coax in instead of optical. If I remember correctly, it didn't sound easy....but that doesn't mean it's impossible...
