Is this worth buying. Could pick one up on ebay for about 100 I think? Is this worth it?

You might not be able to get parts for it if it needs to be fixed

If I have been thinking about holding off for a laptop or JB3 should I just do that?

talk to sexymexi about this.  He runs one and seems to work out fine for him.  $100 is a steal for a portable dat.  I would go with it no question.  Like i said in my PM DAT is gonna make your rig come together.  Also im pretty sure prodigital still services these because i have seen that they sell them from time to time,

I have (2) Denon DTR-80p's. They are basically the same DAT deck. I really like mine. $100 is a good price for those. If you get it, let me know I can give you a run-down on the do's and don't with it.

haha thanks phatal.  i'm here now.  yea i run a casio DA-7 portable dat, not the DA-R100, but i got it for a steal, i almost don't wanna say how much i paid..  but it didn't work just so you know.  I got it for 40 off ebay, and it was like 350 to fix it i beleive, but it needed a lot of work, according to prodigital. and has worked fine for the last 10+ shows, except my heads were dirty once, but that was an easy fix.

i'd recomend checkin to see if you can get parts for it, check http://www.prodigitalinc.com/ and see if they can hook you up.  good luck. peace.
