I do not agree that crimping is as good as a good soldered joint.  If it were, I wouldn't have been taught soldering in electronics classes, I would have been taught crimping  ;)

In my experience, no matter how hard you crimp, no matter how hard you tighten that post on bare wire, oxidation happens. Crimp then solder.  It doesn't hurt a thing to finish the job.

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

FWIW, I like solder. 2% silver melts nice.
With the frequency that you guys tweak this stuff, it will never have time to oxidize.              ;D

Agreed...different strokes and  the crimp vs solder debate may go on forever. 

But

I still strongly disagree with the oxidation point.    Air is an excellent isulator.  If there is air between your wire and the connector there is no passage of signal.  The only way oxidation takes place is with air.  See my point?
