Recommendations for Toslink Cables & Power Conditioners
« on: April 15, 2007, 08:09:42 PM »
Ordered my M902 last week and plan on picking up some cans in the near future.  I'm going to be running one of the two options depending upon my source.

1) Pioneer DVD (for CD)> toslink > M902 > PHP-850 preamp > HCA-1200II amp > VSA VR-4 Gen I
2) Mac (for HD playback) > firewire > Audiophile 24/96 > Coax > PHP-850 preamp > HCA-1200II amp > VSA VR-4 Gen I

To accomplish this I need to pickup a good 1m toslink digital cable and I also want to pickup a power conditioner.  Looking at a budget of ~$50 for the toslink & ~$100 for the power conditioner.

Anyone have any recommendations?  I've searched a bit for info on these and haven't turned up with much.

look on ebay for "glass toslink", and you'll find what you need.  just get a glass one, they are better than plastic (though not that you'll hear any improvment on a short run over a cheapo cable).

as for conditioners..
love my moster hts3500.  I believe it was $160 over a year ago

I gotta' second the notion about the Monster HTS3500. Cheap, and mighty good for the price! No complaints!

Gumbino:
I have an extra 1M glass toslink, a Monster HTS 3500 and a PS Audio Ultimate Outlet 15A standard. I recently upgraded from both to a PS Audio UPC 200 and the newer Duet. PM if interested.
