Here's a couple pics the builder has sent me of my new modified AR turntable. First is just the custom Bubinga plinth from a couple weeks ago, 2nd is the almost ready to ship tune up shot he sent today.
It is barely an AR anymore. Acrylic top plate, Merrill sub frame, Linn springs, Sound Of The Wood motor, Vinyl Nirvana pulley and platter spindle, Infinity Black Widow arm.
The Music Hall cruise control that's going to drive it showed up today, and I should have the table soon. Will post some under the hood shots once I have it set up.

Thats going to be really nice. Congrats!

Jason, I clicked in expecting to send a "here's a cigar for the new baby" with appropriate gif.
BUT, this merits a congratulations anyway! :coolguy:

Back in the late 80's that was the table I desired. Still would love to have one today to play with. I'm glad you put anew infinity arm on it. It makes it more period correct.
Enjoy.

BTW, after it arrives, please post some more shots!!!!!! and, is that wood or vinyl veneer place over the acrylic top plate?

Looks beautiful, but so many of its upgrades are hidden from view! :D. I had an ES-1 years ago, before all these options were available. Tried different arms, including an SME 309 and an RB300. Liked the lead mat option. I'll bet this will sound very smooth. What cart do you have on there?

The top is veneer over MDF. A Bubinga board big enough was very expensive, and it didn't make sense just to cut a huge hole in the middle of it. Steve did a great job matching up the grain and color.
Have a Grado Red on there right now. Got it along with the donor table I picked up for the platters and some circuitry. Was in great shape and allowed me to keep my current table running while this was done. Will leave it on for a while, then decide what to do with my current Denon DL-160. I'll sell off my current stock The Turntable soon, but the Denon isn't going with it.
Here's the last few pics taken before getting it ready for Fed Ex.
Such a tease, I can't wait for it to get here.

Your 160 would go nicely with that table. If you do sell the cartridge you should consider buying a Denon 301 mkii. It comes very close to what you get in $1000.00 cartridges. I'm not a fan of Grados, as I have run both the prestige and reference series and have been left scratching my head. Even the lowly Shure 97xe is a more satisfying cartridge to me. However, your milage may vary.

Yeah, I really like the Denon, but since the Grado is on the widow now, I'll give it an audition. Going to have to wait a while though. FedEx was a bit rough with it and the suspension broke the acrylic top plate. New one is on the way, but reassembly will take me a while. Luckily everything else is ok. :(

We demand an update and a money shot.

Just got it put back together. Still need to dial in the suspension and mount the safety raiser.
Should have it ready to rock and roll soon, but I'm picking up a TD-124 on Friday so I don't know if I'll have enough time to finish tuning it.
