There is a taper in the Facebook group that has tested this out using a Behringer UCA-202 interface ($30 on Amazon). I'm likely to give it a try for streaming or videos on my phone at some point.

I've recorded using a Foscusrite 2i2 connected via OTG cable to an android tablet.  Yes, it's technically possible.  What DAW are you going to use for editing?  Reaper, for example, is still either windows or mac.  The 2i2 and tablet combination is huge compared to a Sony M10.

The more interesting question is what kind of results you could get using an android smartphone as a recorder with a decent mic.  Some of the smartphones like the Galaxy 7 are supposed to have amazing video quality.  If you could pair that with terrific audio recording quality, then that would be something.

i've got an LG V20 and the audio *playback* is quite good.  Better than my Galaxy 7 that I upgraded from by a long shot.  I would think it's good.....

So if I go Mixpre-6 mini output > UCA202 RCA input > UCA202 USB output > USB OTG Cable > Android USB + driver then I can broadcast my pull live via Mixlr?

The problem is going to be how to keep my Android device charged if I have the USB input occupied.  Mixlr pulls my battery down pretty fast but perhaps it is just because I have accidentally had the recording button ticked.

You can get an OTG cable that provides power as well as the USB connection.

It looks like this driver only works with the developers apps, so it wouldn't help to get the audio into streaming software like mixlr. Correct me if I'm wrong, which I hope I am.

According to a taper on Facebook, as long as you start the app, other audio apps will also use it. He has a YouTube video about it.

This doesnt work for me using Mixlr.

I bought the following:

Behringer U-Control UCA202: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KW2YEI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
OTG cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V81L9M8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
eXtream USB Audio Recorder Pro (which apparently costs ~$6.50): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro&hl=en

I installed the app, I plugged UCA202 into the OTG and the OTG into my S8.  The interface powers fine.

I started USB ARP and it recognizes and initializes the USB audio device.

I left the app open and started Mixlr and there is NO signal at all from the headphone out of my Mixpre-6 into Mixlr.  I used the headphone monitor on the UCA202 to confirm audio passing.  I can also record in USB ARP and it records fine.  I just cannot broadcast it using the Mixlr app.  Wit hthe OTG cable I cannot broadcast using the phone mics or from the OTG USB audio input.  If I remove the OTG cable from the phone then Mixlr uses the phone mics just fine.

At this moment I have about $50 into something that doesn't look like it will work.  I don't mind trying with another platform if someone has another idea besides Facebook.  I wont use Facebook.

Are there any DAC's that work with this rig, but multi-track? Like 4-8 track inputs as opposed to stereo?
Audio: Countryman B3 + AT853(hypers/cards/subcards) + SBD feeds
Wireless Receivers: Lots of those
Antennas: Lots of those
Cables: Lots of those
Recorders: TE TX-6, Zoom L20R, Zoom F8, (3) Tascam 680, (3) Tascam 2D, Zoom H6, and a graveyard of irivers/nomads/minidiscs.

Does anyone NOT wanting to use Mixlr want to try this set up?  I'll send the OTG and UCA202 gear out and if it works then buy it and if it doesn't just send it back.  You will have the get the app on your own.

This guys video shows it works with Facebook live so it may work with some other apps too.  I just needed it to work with Mixlr and it would not play nice.

A pm is fine.

I did a while ago a "backup recorder" using a behringer usb interface. works great (just "slide" the phone in, so it's very secure and "firm")

using extreamsd recorder, but others works too. (i like cause it records in FLAC).

now that i realized i can use it as a RTA analyzer ;)

tried with gaussian white noise (generated from Izotope Editor and played back from a DR-70D out) and the result is dead flat on the RTA.

so, the ADC/filtering on the behringer interface is very "neutral"

i can confirm that this driver does not work with ustream as well as mixlr. have not tried facebook live, but am a bit disappointed with my findings. i am rooted as well and checked the root box in the app settings hoping it might work but to no avail. if someone figures a workaround or other working solution with mixlr or ustream please report here

custom rom/kernel or stock? does it work without first running this driver/recording app (since stock 5.0+ has usb audio built in to a certain level)? do you have the root option checked in the recording app?

stock. rebooted the phone. just opened the mixlr program. worked without opening anything before (but i do have usb audio recorder from extreamsd)

i did not find any root option in the app. but my phone is rooted set to allow everything automatically.

I have an old Note 4 that I could root.  I am wondering if I should buy the behringer usb interface and try again with a rooted device.

malow which behringer usb interface are you using?

Any improvement on this?

does the 222 works with mixlr?

Is the recorder soft needed for use with mixlr?

Thanks

is this asynchronous?

i was talking with doug about the d:vice and while he was impressed with the internals, said most usb connections like that are synchronous and very prone to jitter

i have a digigram uax-220 mic (listed as supported) that would be good to test with this. as with all things digigram the breakout cables are obscene

Is anyone still using the USB Audio Recorder Pro? Are there better alternatives that have come out in the last year and a half?

Recently I picked up a Mixerface R4R and am looking for an interface that will work with it. USB ARP also claims to work with the mixpre series, wonder if it will allow for gain controls.

*Edit - it does not work with the MP6, their site says it does work with the 10II. Works very well with the Mixerface.

I'm using it for stereo backup recording with my Mixpre 10II. I'm the reason it recently got added to the compatibility list. I haven't seen anything else that fits the bill this well and is actively supported (and the developer is very responsive). It looks like there's an issue with the 6II and 10II (and possibly others) where it can't see all 12 tracks, so only two are available. I went down the rabbit hole with the developer and it seems to be an issue baked into Android that has to do with USB mode switching. Sound Devices info seems to indicate this problem is specific to the 6II and 10II, noting that those devices require a driver on Windows machines in order to operate as more than a 2X2 interface. There are no mixer/gain controls available in the app. 24 bit is available but not 32. I saw up to 96kHz available, but 192 may be available as well since you have to switch and restart the MP to use it. Stereo input is available in both USB modes but stereo output is only available when running the MP in "normal" USB mode. Streaming apps such as Mixlr and Larix Broadcaster work with or without USB ARP installed (but haven't tried running them at the same time: USB ARP suggests it is not recommended to run it in the background).

Hope that helps.
