???Levels in Acoustic Recordings and Crowd Noise
« on: November 18, 2004, 02:34:56 PM »
I made what I think is a pretty nice recording of Warren Haynes solo in Philly last summer and while the music is at a nice level, the crowd clapping is clipping hard..

do you try and catch the end of songs and fade down yr levels between songs?

or maybe in editing?

really is shocking to be listenoing to Warren going along fine then YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!! CLAP CLAP CLAP! breaking your ears.....

perfect place to use the Apogee MiniMe's soft-limit compressor.

Set the music to the perfect level and then let the soft-limit kick in during the heavy applause in between each song.

You'll get the best results editing by hand...select and reduce volume...harder to deal with mid-song yelps...there you might need some compression...
