Title: Compute Stick for iTunes server or uTorrent 3watt always on computer
Post by: Hypnocracy on February 09, 2016, 04:32:48 PM
I'm struggling to cut the RCA cord from my PC to my home theater system...Tried Plex and it may be great for video but was clunky for Audio (an I tired of the pauses between segues)

I've come across the Compute Stick for $114...anyone have experience with these? I've even seen bundles with remote keyboards and a mouse;

It's a larger ChomeCast HDMI port device as a low power PC...Your HD TV is used as the display

Always on PC Three Watts...I know it is not a replacement for a computer. But this thing will run iTunes and with external USB drive now waking within 2 seconds...running Home Sharing of iTunes to stream to Apple TVs, iPads, iPhones, iPod touches...

If I go this route...and it works...may try installing uTorrent and get a second device for 24/7 sharing

No personal experience with the product you mentioned, but I was thinking of picking up one of these just for the hell of it.

You could also look into a Raspberry Pi 2 with an attached USB drive.  Raspian on the Raspberry Pi 2 smokes, but you can also download and install Windows 10.  I doubt iTunes would run on Debian (Raspian), but it might on Windows 10 on the Raspberry Pi.
