i recently ran a stereo omni set with stereo cards
ran the omnis into pre amp then into left ch mr1
the cards went into 2nd pre amp then into right ch on mr1
i had both mic sets marked so as to know which was left and right on both sets of mics

rec on +20 on both pre amps and bal levels same with pre amps vol
i was taping in the upmost rear seat in line with left side fill stack.
behind me the concrete wall of the venue.
the mic mix of the 2 mics was 50/50 even mix .
both pre amps at +20 db
THE QUESTION STARTS NOW
music is good but when the talking is going on you cannot
make out properly the words due to a slight delay on rec
was it the reflection of the rear concrete wall of the venue or
was it the mics not being in line together as left and right
i want to try this set up again because the image was huge
but without the delay
would i still have had the delay if i was away from rear wall
and closer to pa stack increasing the sound pressure on my mics
from the source
?
is it off axis mic placment on my behalf, is there a mic placment that would
have been better to try instead of what i configured ?
i want to learn my lesson on this rec i made.
