Need some help
« on: October 09, 2002, 02:59:37 PM »
I have a customer that we are doing work here for that needs and inexpensive way to record voice to CD, likely by computer. It is for a local synogague (spelling) so they can record torah portions and the kids can go home and rock out to them. The key here is inexpensive and simple. Doe adaptec let you record? Anyone know a good computer microphone? Or good mic->WAV program?

Thanks so much!

is sound quality going to be a major issue here?

If not, just use a line in on the PC, and pick up some mics from somewhere like sound professionals. It's cheap and easy

be sure not to rock out too much to the Torah, I know it might be hard to hold back........

sound quality is not a major issue. I imagin we will use a PC microphone, but what record to burn software is the best?

Only program that comes to my mind as cheap, would be GoldWave

You can record and edit, and all that other stuff.....

you know how it works, just save the files, and open them on any burning program

it's free too

not sure if that is what you are looking for though

How about CDWave?  You can't do much editing but you can record and split tracks.  It's also free...i'd say that's cheap.

As for burning, did the burner they're using come with any software?  Some adaptec/roxio program maybe?  Maybe nero?

Hello,

I have Adaptec Toast Deluxe for the Mac version 4.1.3 for the Mac and it comes with a program called "CDSpinDoctor" that lets you record directly into the computer.  Just hook up a microphone to the line-in jack on the computer and hit record on the program and it will start right there.  You can also split up tracks with it and then burn the CD right to Toast.  Very easy to use and it cost me about $80 for Toast Deluxe four years ago.  I believe that he PC version is called Easy CD Creator.  You will probably want the "Deluxe" version, as it probably contains the CDSpinDoctor program.

I just bought a new cd burner for my PC a couple of weeks ago...  It came bundled with B's recorder Gold by BHA.  For burning, but the neat feature was that it allow direct to disc recording from the PC inputs...

Real simple software

Bri, one thing to remember... they only need to record this stuff once and just be able to make copies of it.  The torah portions havent changed in over 5,000 years :-)  Same portions read on the same weeks from year to year.

No need to make a big initial investment as it probably wont receive very much use after year one or so.

Bri,

This actually reminds me... if they don't want to record these themselves another option is that they can actually  buy these on tape already from any number of places... contact me off here and ill let you know.
